What autumn looks like in the Eastern Sierra.
Golden days, with backlighting all day due to the low angle of the sun... it’s why October is my favorite time of year to photograph. A nice fresh snowstorm is a treat but it then melts off and becomes awesomely enjoyable within a few days again: this picture was taken only 2 days after that snowstorm!
As usual I had to shoot an infinity focus frame manually due to the longstanding Focus BKT bug in the Fujifilm GFX100 II/100S/100. That frame is critical for sharpness in the distance... except that I goofed in my first stack and left it out. The revised image below is very noticeably sharper in the far distance than the one I posted earlier in the day. What in hell is wrong with Fujifilm engineers that this bug has existed for 5+ years—utter incompetence that even a moron could fix with one (1) line of code. Total FUBAR. I’m seriously pissed-off and tired of waiting for these jackasses to sit around with their thumbs up their asses doing nothing about it.
Below, two days prior... the picture above was taken just ~300 feet in elevation lower in a valley near the center/distance of this image. Now that’s a wild and wonderful change in contrast!
