Field Comparison: Nikon D600 vs Nikon D800E (Pine Creek Tungsten Mine, Aerial View)

Continuing my review of the 24-megapixel Nikon D600 in DAP, I present a landscape comparison to the Nikon D800E using the spectacular Zeiss 100mm f/2 Makro-Planar.

This is the 5th comparison published— multiple real-world examples with different lenses provide confirmation and perspective of the real differences in performance (lab tests bore me to tears); a variety of examples being necessary for full understanding of field behavior.

This example is particularly instructive as to how much preferable the D800E is to the D600 (or the Canon 5D Mark III, which has slightly lower resolution than the Nikon D600).

Ergo, there is no better DSLR for this type of photography than the Nikon D800E— end of story as of late 2012.
