The Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM is a fine lens for focus stacking.
This page shows focus stacked images along with corresponding single frames from the stack, highly useful for perspective versus what is possible with the two approaches. I discuss the making of this image, and my recommendations for focus stacking versus (for example) f/9 and f/11. Because full near-to-far sharpness is not generally possible at f/9 or f/11 for scenes from ~1m to INF, not even at 12mm.
