I went around in circles trying to decide the raw conversion parameters here; there was contrast to control, but the I wanted to preserve the sense of high-key lighting which also has shadows. No easy task. In the end some contrast control for highlights was used, and the image brightened up with a little contrast added to compensate for the highlight reduction.
