Overview of Leica 50mm f/1.2 Noctilux-M ASPH

The about $7695 Leica 50mm f/1.2 Noctilux-M ASPH was released in February 2021. It is a remake of a classic Leica 50mm f/1.2 design (1966-1975). As such, it replicates the classic look of the original, with a dreamy smooth look which Leica terms an “impressionist aesthetic”. Thus, the 50/1.2 is a lens created purely for the way it 'draws'; it is not designed for technical performance, and so approaching it that way would be inappropriate when evaluating its appeal.

A collectors-edition chrome silver version limited to 100 units is also available for about $17000.
