Wide open, a veiling haze permeates everything; this is in part what Leica deems as “romantic aesthetics are not only unmatched by any other lens to this day” (in 2018). Let the viewer judge for him/herself. For my part, I will agree that this aesthetic has its place, and works well with this scene.
