This extensive series demonstrates an electro-mechanical focus shift behavior with the Leica 90mm f/2 APO-Summicron-SL ASPH when used on the Panasonic S1R. I was able to reproduce this problem at will once I understood the behavior (following huge frustration in so many damaged images).
This behavior damaged many images, costing me considerable time and effort and causing world-class optics to render mediocre results with stopped-down performance inferior to wide open performance. The lens is very very sharp (as good as it gets), but in Multi-Shot High-Res mode, the right things are less sharp than intended, and the wrong things are more sharp than intended—extremely damaging in high-res mode with some subjects.
