Aperture Series: Face in Boulder (Extreme Bad Sample)
Update July 2017: a subsequent sample dispelled all misgivings with outstanding peformance; the sample shown here somehow made it out of Fujifilm production lines when it is no better than a paperweight. How it pass Q/C is a mystery.

This example looks at image quality with the GF 110mm f/2, which was observed to be awful beyond belief in every scene I shot, and very difficult to focus due to massive smearing (autofocus could do no better). The sharpness is not there at any aperture, the bokeh is very ugly, the tremendous smearing unbelievable.
One has to assume that it is an extreme “bad sample”, yet these images were shot with a pristine brand-new lens right out of the box. How such a lens can make it out of the garbage bin and be sold beggars belief.
