When a lens manufacturer publishes MTF charts, they are almost without exception not quite truthful in that they typically do not account for distortion correction, which can substantially degrade micro contrast—a pixel stretched from 1.0 pixels to 1.03 or 1.07 pixels (or whatever), micro contrast is visibly degraded, and effective resolving power drops.
