Fujifilm Medium Format Shooting Formats / Aspect Ratios

The Fujifilm GFX can shoot in different aspect ratios, a nice space-saving efficiency if one knows in advance that a particular shape (aspect ratio) is desired. Photographers accustomed to the 3:2 aspect ratio of DSLRs lose only 6 megapixels (51 => 45). Old-timer 4X5 shooters see only 2 megapixels loss (51 => 48).

In general, unless one is certain that the aspect ratio is desired, it makes little sense to use any of these cropping modes; shoot the whole frame and crop to taste after. That said:
