X1D Buttons and Controls

Overall the Hasselblad X1D seems well designed and well thought out in many aspects, but I felt frustrated upon initial use because it is so different from any Canon or Nikon or Sony. Is it just different, or actually demonstrably inferior in key aspects? In my view, both are true.
The lack of a 4-way controller is not just disconcerting, but carries severe operational negatives for Live View not to mention the incredibly clumsy press-hold-dual-dial method of choosing an AF point (more on that below).
The lack of buttons on the left side is for my hands is a physical things that just feels wrong to me (and I have to focus with my left eye also). It’s awkward not to be able to support the camera on the left side while not having access to buttons on that side with the left hand. This might be “me” but I mention it because it just doesn’t have the buttons where they make sense to me, like my Nikon or Canon DSLRs do—it’s unbalanced, all on the right side. Little annoyances come to bear: my left thumb likes to rest on the left side of the rear of the camera while holding it; this make its smudge on the screen, super annoying once those hands get sunblock on them.
