Aperture Series: Tressider Union at Night
I almost did not publish this series, but the behavior is weird enough that it needs to be shown.

Diffraction mitigating sharpening used for f/11. Conditions were nearly windless.
At left, the area from the steps to the distance is quite sharp, even at f/3.5. Moving to the right, the image becomes increasingly blurry. How can this be explained by anything other than lens skew (asymmetry)? Unclear, but weirder still, stopping down to f/5.6 makes the right side vastly superior to f/3.5. What has changed from f/3.5 to f/5.6 is a mystery (lens was focused only once)—while the various other series show a forward focus shift both near and far, so that might explain things in part, the improvement is so dramatic that one has to wonder if there is something else going on. Could the lens be focused “past infinity” (by mistake) and be showing an asymmetric sharpness as a result? No easy answer presents itself.
