It’s not easy to design a high performance lens covering a 44 X 33mm sensor, especially with a bright/fast aperture. With lens speed of f/2.5 (equivalent to f/2 on 35mm format), one could easily set modest expectations for the 38/2.5. And perhaps one should because nothing short of f/8 gets the job done.
