Aperture Series with Focus Shift Assessment: Dolls
This aperture series looks at the Hasselblad XCD 90mm f/3.2 from f/3.2 through f/12 on the Hasselblad X1D.
Prelude
When I shoot a Zeiss Otus of any focal length or the Zeiss 135mm f/2 APO-Sonnar or just about any other current Zeiss lens, I never have to worry about focus shift—the lens just nails it. I focus at f/1.4 for perfection in focus, and no matter which aperture I shoot at, the lens just does its thing, just as expected, no guesswork, no change in focus. This is 'huge' in terms of getting the job done. That is my expectation for any high end lens, one that is NOT met here with the Hasselblad XCD 90/3.2.
Dolls
The distance here is equivalent to a tight head shot (portrait) and is thus highly relevant to mainstream usage, and particularly so at the 90mm focal length.
