Shutter Vibration: Landscape and Portrait Orientation, 90mm

Medium format cameras have large shutters and a natural question to ask is whether the shutter can cause loss of image sharpness. The Pentax 645Z does not have an electronic first curtain shutter option (EFC shutter).

This series was shot at a constant aperture of f/4 except for the longest exposure being stopped down just a bit more, the focus being fixed for all frames of course. Focus was also verified to not have changed after the series was shot.

Variable lighting was used as needed in order to maintain a constant aperture of f/4. Individuals images neutralized and matched in the center white donut, images shown in black and white as the slight color aliasing is not helpful.
