Pentax 645Z in Context of Nikon D810
The Pentax 645Z is the next logical step up from a camera like the Nikon D810: bumping up the pixel count to 50 megapixels from 36, while offering at least as good per pixel quality, and to your author’s eye, slightly better. It is a multiplicative gain that qualifies the 645Z as “medium format quality” without a doubt. And when long exposures and high ISO are considered, most medium format cameras on the market fall far short of the 645Z performance (excepting 2014 brands which use similar CMOS sensors)
