It was with excitement that I anticipated the Fujifilm X-Pro1. That excitement turned to frustration in finding that its images, while showing very high sensor quality, do not deliver pixel-level sharpness, a surprise given the lack of an anti-aliasing (blur) filter.
The sharpness might simply be due to difficulties in demosaicing the highly complex and semi-random sensor grid.
After analyzing many images, something “clicked” and my working hypothesis is that the sharpening algorithms in the SilkyPix RAW converter are as crude as those in Nikon Capture NX2; neither program can extract the micro contrast and fine detail as can Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) with its deconvolution sharpening.
