There is no canned “make it look like the JPEG from the camera” conversion for the DNG, so I applied a tonal curve and white balance and tint to render what my mind’s eye took in at the time.
The test scene
At first glance, the JPEG image might appeal for its contrast and saturated color— but its colors are inaccurate and oversaturated “postcard” colors; the green leaves, moss, lichen are all wrong. They do not look that way in real life.
At reduced size, the JPEG fools the viewer with its over-saturated color and aggresive contrast curve (sort of like an amped-up TV in a store), but actual detail is poor, so be sure to see the actual pixels crops.
