Sigma DP-2 Merrill

Examples (DP2M, Tulips)

Still life tulips with the Sigma DP2 Merrill.

Exposure details as noted. Many are stopped down to the ~ f/11 range which does degrade per-pixel sharpness just slightly. No saturation was added— this is right out of Sigma Photo Professional raw converter. Black background darkened for some images.

Getting the right white balance is important for the best color quality, and this white balance is often WAY off the nominal daylight setting. Used of a gray card or gray cube (in focus) for setting white point is very helpful. This said, sometimes the wrong white balance offers a more pleasing combination of tones.

Images taken with a black background, some images involved fill flash (Sigma EF-140 DG in hot shoe), and/or a white reflector to throw light into the darker areas.
