X3F files converted with Sigma Photo Pro 6.0.5, August 2014. Version 6.0.5 properly tags output with the color space; files converted to 16-bit ProPhotoRGB and then converted to AdobeRGB for presentation.
This comparison took hours just to create the TIF output; it was an intensely frustrating experience. Two (2) raw files seem simple enough, but after hours of trying to make the dp2 Quattro color look right, manually tweaking white balance and tint, your author gave up and just finally used click white balance on the WhiBal card. The results are quite unsatisfactory. Whether this is an inherent “Sigma color” issue with the dp2 Quattro or some bug in Sigma Photo Pro remains unclear.
As for the JPEG output from the dp2 Quattro (not shown), the files are the most hideously garish intensely over-saturated intensely disasters your author has ever encountered in a digital camera—complete garbage. So JPEG out of camera is no solution here either.
