Sony FE 24-105mm f/4G OSS

Introduction to Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS

As of December 2017, the about $1298 Sony 24-105mm f/4 G OSS fills in yet another hole in the Sony lens line, this time the all-arounder 24mm to 105mm range with an f/4 lens speed. That range appeals to the shooter who wants a do-everything lens and does not need the speed.

But can such a zoom deliver? Not from Nikon and not from Canon in all these years (to my satisfaction, particularly on 42/45/50 megapixels). So that is the question to pose about the Sony 24-105mm unless the premise is “I want the range and relative compactness and some quality loss is OK”.
