Near the middle of the zoom range at 49mm, this scene incorporates a good near/far challenge: will the lens be able to deliver deep depth of field and sharpness across the frame with some stopping down?

Adobe Camera Raw 9.5 (585). View ACR Settings. Camera Profile = Camera Standard. Chromatic aberration is corrected via an embedded profile, enforced by ACR. Aperture f/9 and f/13 were sharpened to counteract diffraction.

While depth of field is obviously limited at f/2.8, the very near foreground to the far background show a pleasing smoothness—excellent bokeh. Focus was on the tan-colored rock just left of center.
