Lens diaphragms are not always perfectly symmetrical, and the symmetry can vary somewhat with each lens sample. The lens sample used here exhibits excellent diaphragm symmetry. Some degree of lens diaphragm asymmetry is “not a defect” according to Zeiss, but for the images shown on this page, anything less than near perfection is not going to look as attractive. Fortunately the nonagons are about as perfect as one can expect.
