APO Behavior vs Leica R APO 100/2.8 and 180/2.8
Shot on the 36-megapixel Nikon D800E. Leica R lenses were adapted to Nikon mount.
The Zeiss 135mm f/2 APO-Sonnar is the first lens in the ZF.2 / ZE line to gain the “APO” (apochromatic) designation.
Three APO lenses are compared here:
Worth noting is that the Zeiss 135/2 is a full stop faster than the two Leica lenses. However, the Leica 100/2.8 APO is also a macro lens and the Leica 180/2.8 APO is a longer telephoto. But at the least one can at least say that the extra stop of speed makes the Zeiss lens at least as comparable a design challenge, and perhaps more.
