The Pentax 645D — go get one
Just added two new images to the 75mm f/2.8 page, as well as a discussion of the 4:3 aspect ratio versus 3:2 aspect ratio.
My review of the Pentax 645D in Medium Format is on pause while I wait for 3 or 4 Pentax lenses to show up, including the 45/2.8, the 45-85/4.5, the 120/4 and the 200/4. Thanks to readers who have sent them on loan.
If you want a ~40MP medium format camera, order the 645D right now, because it’s the first medium format camera that does almost everything right. IMO the sensor is wonderful, especially for long exposures. And I really like shooting the 645D.
As a bonus, for a relative pittance, you can buy a complete set of used lenses for the 645D, no small consideration compared to the other brands. As well as used Pentax 6X7 lenses on it with an adapter.
For anyone serious about it, I’d recommend two bodies to cover the bases of reliability and minimizing the need to switch lenses. The whole shebang will still cost a lot less than the Leica S2 with one lens, and I think the 645D has a better sensor.
