Nikon D850: Supports USB 3.0

See my Nikon wish list and get Nikon D850 at B&H Photo.

Nikon D850

Well that’s not new; the Nikon D810 also supports USB 3.0.

I mention this because I have forgotten my CompactFlash card reader on trips before, and sometimes the Nikon D810 has switched cards on me; it seems that if I pull the SDXC card for downloading and then close the camera card door, it resets to using the only card, the remaining CF card. So when I reinsert the SDXC card, it is stil set to use the CF card—I forget to check (remember, I've been hiking for 10 hours at high altitude and it's 9PM!). The next day it is writing to the CompactFlash, leaving me unable to download files except by USB.

With the Nikon D850, I’ll be trying XQD—well, why not? But most of my cameras are SDXC and my 2015 MacBook Pro has an SDXC card slot—much more convenient.

See the Lexar XQD card for the Nikon D850.
