Nikon Z System Announced and Available for Pre-Order

I am studying the new Nikon Z system and will have commentary soon.
One thing seems to be the case: no Eye AF as with Sony, a critical deficit IMO.
The “Nikon has announced the development of a Noct 58mm f/0.95 lens” is quite interesting of course. The very large mount diameter allows for ultra-fast lenses, that being designed from scratch, could be phenomenally good. Heretofore, even f/1.2 lost a great deal of light with color issues from ray angle problems. Question is, will Zeiss and Sigma be allowed onto he playing field? With a new lens mount, patents can prevent entry for all players for 17 years.
The Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter is a must-have given the initial lens line, which offers no telephoto or wide angle capability outside the 24-70mm range. It seems critical that Nikon deliver an ample supply of adapters right away. The adapter has a 1/4" screw thread which is essential, but it is disappointing that Nikon failed to do what Sigma did with the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art—just build in the proper dovetail to begin with.
B&H Photo has the Nikon Z System lenses and cameras available for pre-order as shown.
