The Best Overall Lens for Fujifilm GFX100S is also the Cheapest, and a steal at $499
re: Fujifilm GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6

For any Fujifilm medium format shooter, it would be foolish to pass up the about $500 Fujifilm GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6 while on sale (or even at full price).
Recently, the 35-70mm showed its mettle by delivering sharper results on the GFX100S than can either the Voigtlander FE 50mm f/2 APO on the Sony A7R V or the Voigtlander FE 50mm f/2 APO on the Nikon Z8. Of course that’s the sensor resolution acting, but the lens has to deliver the image for that to work.
Pair the 35-70mm with the outstanding Fujifilm GF 20-35mm f/4*, which I tested with satisfaction; its fixed f/4 aperture is a nice plus and its performance particularly at the wide end is beyond reproach even for a prime lens. With those two zooms you cover a very wide range.
Other lenses I highly recommend include the Fujifilm GF 110mm f/2 and especially the Fujifilm GF 250mm f/4. The Fujifilm GF 50mm f/3.5 is the nicest lens of all for a compact carry, but the 35-70mm performs on par with the 50/3.5, so it is redundant.
* Equivalent to 16.4-28.8mm in terms of 35mm field of view width.
