Dell U3224KB 6K Display — Unexpected Workflow Benefit
Read my 4-page review of the Dell UP3442 6K display.
I’ve run into an unexpected benefit of using a 6K display.
While high pixel density makes comparing subtle sharpness differences nigh-on impossible to my eyes (and most likely yours), differences are not always subtle fine things.
It turns out that when 21 megapixels (6K) can be displayed all at once, it then becomes possible to see at a glance which lens or image is sharper and where. For significant differences, which happens a lot.
Without zooming and scrolling around.
This is true at least for 45 and 60 megapixel images, which are thus displayed at 1/3 and 1/4 their native pixel counts. That’s enough to reveal significant deviations between lenses or apertures. It greatly speeds up at-a-glance image assessment.
When something that useful pops up, it has to become a budgetary priority. Maybe not immediate, but within a few months...!
Of course, I’d like an 8K display, but at $1,297,229.00 the LG LSAB-U325C 8K Ultra HD Ultimate Business Display is a bit out of my range. I don’t think B&H will be sending me a loaner either.
Dell U3224KB 6K is less than half the price of the problematic Apple Pro Display XDR.
