MTF for Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
With the debut of the Canon EOS R system, Canon continues to publish the same inadequate 10 and 30 lp/mm MTF charts it has for years, and for only one aperture (wide open) and without specifying spectral balance or focusing distance (presumably infinity). Net/net the MTF chart offers limited insight versus charts from Zeiss with white light made measured from actual lenses. Still, the chart is suggestive of performance at 40 lp/mm and beyond.
The MTF chart for the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM shows very high contrast in central areas, steadily rolling off with astigmatism to the edges. This will likely necessitate stopping down for depth of field to converge the sagittal and tangential rays—probably f/5.6 will be a better better bet than f/4—good thing it has image stabilization.
