Close enough on date... I wish I were there now as the place was mind-bogglingly gorgeous.
Saddlebag Lake at 10,000' elevation, June 25. Should be melted out a bit more by the 4th
A few downhill skiers and snowboarders, slogging on the far side to ascend then woo-hoo down.
Amazing view, with a nasty hike to get there (snow cups and a few bruises on frosty snow at sunrise), snow surface unusable for skis, with grooved gullies and snow cups up to 3 feet deep.
One photographer (me).
One fisherman (12 rainbow trout, catch and release). Admittedly, that was me too... successful after breaking newly formed ice—still freezing at night right after the solstice.
I had a devil of a time getting the optimal exposure for these images due to lack of the RGB histogram: the blue channel is critical in scenes like this, both for dark blues and not blowing out the highlights. While most users won’t care or have the knowledge or skill to even think about it, but I do care to capture the best possible image quality under any conditions, and Leica has made that much harder by taking out the RGB histogram. Under the most challenging conditions, it is very hard to be sure; a channel can be badly blown even while a luminance histogram looks fine.
