Really Right Stuff L-Bracket for Leica M11 / M11 Monochrom

re: Really Right Stuff L-Bracket for Leica SL2

Really Right Stuff loaned me the Really Right Stuff L-Bracket BM11-LPG for the Leica M11.

The rigid piece bracket is designed to minimize weight (5 oz = 142 grams), with no unnecessary metal. Yet it is super rigid, a very high quality piece.

Like other RRS offerings, the fit is perfect. It offers battery compartment and SD card access without having to remove the bracket.

While being used handheld, the bracket offers considerable protection to the body of the M11. When I shoot in rugged terrain, it is not uncommon that i might brace the camera on a rock at bottom or left; this type of bracket completely protectes the camera from being scratched in so doing. That’s a significant factor in why my cameras show little sign of wear even years later.

For my hands at least, the left "L" portion provides a convenient place to grasp the camera while also resting the thumb of my left hand over it, providing a reference position for accessing the buttons—nice!

The grip portion could be deeper for my hand, but is a huge upgrade from no grip.

My only complaint of sorts is that its all-metal design means cold fingers in sub-freezing temperatures. Were I to use it in very cold conditions, I might apply some tape over the grip portion for that reason.

The Leica M11 (BM11-LPG) plate is an L-Plate with integrated grip and L, allowing for an uncompromised fit and solid feel that parallels that of the M11 itself. The extended grip improves ergonomics of the camera body and the L-section blends seamlessly to allow for portrait shots on the fly. Battery and memory card can be accessed without removing the plate. An integrated QD (Quick Detach) socket makes attaching a strap a breeze.

The Really Right Stuff BM11-LPG is custom designed to make the most secure fit as possible for the Leica M11. Each plate is precision machined from solid blocks of 6061-T6, aircraft grade aluminum.

The Leica M11 camera plate is fully compatible with any standard 1.5"-dovetail style quick-release system. The plate is also has contoured anti-twist flanges for a perfect fit, which prevents twisting between the Leica M11 camera and custom plate. The BM11-LPG quick-release plate utilizes a custom machined 1/4"-20 threaded, captive-style mounting screw that threads into the tripod mounting socket of your camera body.
