My Most Important Publication: Making Sharp Images
The most important publication on this site is Making Sharp Images (MSI), which is about many things, all of which apply to every kind of camera, hence I am rethinking the name as I expand it.
Whether you shoot a mirrorless camera, a DSLR, or Zeiss or Leica or medium format or video, the material in Marking Sharp Images is the jump-start and reference that will help remove frustrations, explain the Weird Stuff and result in a higher keeper rate.
MSI offers approachable material for beginners, and in-depth exploration for experts. My aim is to bridge the knowledge gap that even experienced photographers often have (particularly for optics), and to do wherever possible in show-and-tell ways—approachable and tangible.
The demands on technical excellence for high-res digital are higher than ever before, so investing in a high-res system without upgrading your “game” doesn’t deliver. Put another way, why not get the best results out of the system you have, whatever it is?
