Fujifilm GFX 100 II: Same Horizontal White Stripes Problem as with GFX100, GFX100S

re: PDAF banding and striping noise

re: logical fallacy as in “absence of proof is not proof of absence”

If you watched Photoshop: Localized Contrast Enhancement via Unsharp Mask [Patreon link], you might have noticed a jaw-dropping image quality problem with the Fujifilm GFX100 II image. Whether it is Unsharp Mask or a tonal curve or direct monochrome conversion right in ACR... ugggh.

As in... is this actually what Fujifilm considers a professional camera?

Will it affect your images? Most of the time... no. Some might argue never. If you are so lucky, great. But such image quality issues rein-in the post processing options, particularly for monochrome conversion.

For 5+ years now, the horizontal white stripes have been there, in the GFX100 as reported in August 2019, in the GFX100 S as reported many times, and now in the GFX100 II. Nothing has been fixed.

Is Fujifilm aware of the issue? I assume so since I’ve now posted on X about it, and therefore I also assume it’s part of the technology and with no fix possible. The alternative is not so wonderful. Ditto for the failure to do anything about Focus BKT bug that has lasted over 5 years.

Fortunately, there is one tool that can greatly reduce the visibility of the issue.

Below, the short version.
